Vienna KlezMore Festival presents Old Routes in New Ways

Under the title "Old Routes in New Ways", the Vienna KlezMore Festival is running until 29 November at various locations in Vienna, presenting an "inter cultural dialogue with music, film and workshops."

At the centre of the festival will be Yiddish and Roma music, as well as a meeting of the two cultures. There will be workshops and films will also be shown that provide perspectives on both Yiddish and Roma culture.

One of the concert highlights will be "Krakauer Madness" from the USA who will finish off this year's KlezMore festival on the 29th of November at 8.00 pm in Sargfabrik in Vienna's 14th district.

David Krakauer from New York is a founding member of the well known Klezmer band "The Klezmatics" and combines traditional Klezmer music with new genres like Hip Hop and Funk.

The festival spanned over more than two weeks filled with music. The concerts begin around 20:00.

The name of the festival comes from kleyzmorim, a type of Jewish music from the 15th century.
