Vienna Art Week takes place this year between 19 and 25th of November with the subject "Predicting Memories".
The aim is to show at art as a store of memories and is the focal point of numerous events for the whole week in November.
Exhibitions, panel discussions, presentations, talks with artists, special tours, installations, interventions and performance art will aim to turn Vienna into a mecca for all fans of contemporary art for a whole week.
The international group exhibition of this year's Vienna Art Week, entitled "Predicting Memories", takes place in the Former Royal and Imperial Telegraph Office on Börseplatz.
It shows a cross-section of the concept of memory in contemporary art, in part with works by Ai Weiwei, D-Fuse and Terence Gower. Another highlight is the new arrangement of the show collection "Wien 1900" in the MAK on 20 November: Three newly designed showrooms are dedicated to the development of Viennese arts and crafts between 1890 and 1938.
The Sigmund Freud Museum, Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary - Augarten, BAWAG Contemporary, Kunsthalle, Dorotheum, MUSA, mumok, Leopold Museum, Künstlerhaus, Kunsthistorisches Museum, Jewish Museum Vienna, 21er Haus, Albertina and many more offer special programs.
The "Gallery Weekend" is also held again from 23 to 25 November, when curators lead tours through selected galleries. The "Open Studio Day" on 24 November offers a glimpse behind the scenes of contemporary art production. The "departure fashion tour" leads through selected fashion studios. Tours are also offered at artist-in-residence studios.
