Worldly Savages at the Reigen this week

Having booked over 90 shows this year, the band Worldly Savages are embarking upon their third European tour where they will stop off in Vienna for a night of "contagious folk punk energy".

The group who describe themselves as "Contagious Folk-Punk Energy with Ethno Music Spiciness" will perform at the city's music venue Reigen on 15 November.

The band is made up of musicians from different cultural backgrounds brought together by founding member Erik Mut, a musician from Canada with Slavic, German and Celtic ethnicity. The musicians who join him come from many different regions of the world and countries which have been represented in the band's line-up during its three year history include Canada, Serbia, USA, Ukraine, France, Mexico, Chile, Scotland, Portugal, England and Russia.

The band formed in London but then moved their base to Serbia, leaving behind careers in pursuit of success in the music industry. The group are their own agents and managers and they lead truly nomadic lives travelling the world to spread what they have termed "wild music with a strong message to fight boring post-modernity". They have been compared to the American Gypsy Punk band Gogol Bordello.

The gig at Reigen will be the band's second appearance in Vienna, having already played at the city's Cafe Carina in 2010. The band are also booked to return to the capital in March 2013 when they will play at Ost Klub.

Exhibition Drawing Against Oblivion
