Italian conductor Riccardo Muti has cancelled three concerts with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra due to illness.
Riccardo Muti made his debut in the Vienna Musikverein on the 18th October 1974 conducting the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. Since his Musikverein debut, Muti has conducted more than 120 concerts there and Muti is regarded as one of its most illustrious representatives.
The conductor was scheduled to conduct the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra on 3 November (15.30) and 4 November (11.00) at a concert for subscribed members and for an evening concert at the Musikverein on 5 November (19.30), but he has been taken ill.
On 31 October the Musikverein revealed that the Colombian violinist and conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada and Austrian violinist and conductor Rainer Honeck will be replacing Muti. Alterations will also be made to the concert programme.
