Animal festival at the Danube Island

The "Festival der Tiere" ("Festival of animals") takes place at the Danube Island on the 14th and 15th September in Vienna. It was organised to mark the Animal Protection Day and it includes a petting zoo for children and tips on how to handle animals in the city.

Children can go on a pony ride, watch shows of rescue dogs and veterinarians and meet animal experts who talk about the right nutrition for animals, professions with animals and the right keeping of animals.

Dog owners can check on their dog's chip, which contains the registration of the dog for free and see if it is working. To get the free check on the chip, the dog owners have to bring the registration number of the dog and photo identification.

On Saturday, young visitors have the chance to bake bread, paint and play on the bouncy castle. The festival stage presents Christina Hödl, John Deer, Henri Joel and the Music Box.

The entrance to the "Festival der Tiere" is at the underground station U6 "Neue Donau".
