House actor to play Vienna concert

'House' actor Hugh Laurie will perform a sold out show at Vienna’s Konzerthaus on 22 July.

Laurie who has won two golden globes for his 'House' TV series has recorded an album called 'Let them Talk' which contains "the greatest New-Orleans blues songs of the last 100 years", as his record label puts it.

Laurie said: "I love that music, I've been as authentic as I can be, and I want you to love it too." He added that he never could stand it that blues had been locked away in a cupboard with the label "for elderly black men only".

He said about his debut album: "With this album I will show that I’m a white middle-class Englishman who will publicly break into the music and the myth of the American south."

Laurie will play guitar and piano, backed up by the Copper Bottom Band in Vienna.

As well as acting, he also wrote the bestselling novel "The Gun Seller" in 1996.
