Austrias largest rope park opens in Vienna Woods

A new rope park is opening up on the outskirts of Vienna on the Kahlenberg.

Billed as the largest in Austria it is aimed at those looking for adventure and a bit of sport of various ages with a total of 1.8 km of rope walkways over a 30,000 m² area.

That includes a total of 135 exercises and obstacles from rope bridges over wobbly nets through to flying foxes with some of the ropes going over 20 m high trees.
Organisers say that as well as being a lot of fun it offers a spectacular panorama of the Vienna Woods – the Wienerwald.

Visitors get a short training lesson and then they get to set off over rope walkways with various levels of difficulty. Everything has a modern security system which ensures safety and there are guides on location.

The experts have also taken care to make sure that the rope walkways don't damage the trees. And at any stage it is possible to get down to the ground quickly for anybody suffering from altitude sickness.

There is also a special section for children that doesn't go over a metre above the ground, and there is the nearby Josefinenhütte for refreshments.

The new park is open from 29 June daily from 10 o'clock until the sun goes down.
