Tim Burton’s new film and a satirical comedy are now on at the Burgkino Vienna.
The downtown cinema will show "Dark Shadows" starring Johnny Depp ("The Ninth Gate", "Blow") and "The Dictator" by Sacha Baron Cohen tomorrow (Weds). "Dark Shadows" unites Burton ("Batman", "Corpse Bride") and Depp once more. The Hollywood stars previously collaborated for hits such as "Edward Scissorhands" and "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street".
It has to be seen whether Cohen manages to outdo the success of his mockumentaries "Borat" and "Brüno" with "The Dictator" which has been directed by Larry Charles. Cohen stars as Admiral General Aladeen in the new film, a fictional repressive political leader from Northern Africa.

The Akademietheater – which cooperates with Vienna’s most famous theatre, the Burgtheater – currently offers "Wastwater". In the new play, Simon Stephens focuses on six people’s immensely bleak and depressing lives. After a while, the audience realises how the individual scenes are linked to each other.
"Wastwater" tells from sad farewells, tragic sexual affairs and child trafficking. The actors’ achievements won unanimous acclaim by theatregoers and critics but the play’s plot and direction received mixed reactions. The performances of Elisabeth Orth, Daniel Sträßer and Peter Knaack are outstanding.
"Die Kommune" by Mogens Rukov and Thomas Vinterberg is on at the Akademietheater as well. Tilo Nest is part of the cast of both "Wastwater" and "Die Kommune". The cast of the latter play – which portrays a 1970s commune – also features Regina Fritsch, Alexandra Henkel and Joachim Meyerhoff ("Professor Bernhardi").

The Wien Museum, which is located at Karlsplatz in Vienna-Innere Stadt, has put the fashion collection of Katarina Noever on display. "Mehr als Mode" (More Than Just Fashion) reveals how Noever created interest for fashion from around the world among the city’s more open-minded citizens in the 1060s and 1970s. The special exhibit includes clothing from Japan among other countries but also photographs and newspaper articles about Noever’s engagements as a model.
