Caritas is worried about the refugee’s state of health in the Votivkirche, which has "got dramatically worse". The refugees still wish to continue.
Their state of health has got dramatically worse due to the fact that some of the people on hunger strike "have not drunk enough", stated Caritas Vienna spokesman Klaus Schwertner.
In the last 48 hours alone, the paramedics had to attend to medical emergencies around a dozen times.
One of the refugees, Mir Jahangir, said that there were still nearly 50 people in the church, with some of them on hunger strike and who will not give up. He criticised the fact that nobody is taking responsibility.
The refugees demand a dialogue with politicians and invite representatives of all political parties to take part.
The latest evaluation report from the Ministry for the Interior on the eviction of the refugees from their camp in Sigmund-Freud-Park at the end of last year states that the eviction was reasonable, proportionate and carried out correctly.
The activists have appealed for support from the public and for them to take part in the demonstration on Saturday.
Organiser Mr Ruster explained the goals of the protest as solidarity with the refugee movement, ending repression and access to the job market for the asylum seekers.
Activists have also criticised Caritas for a list in which refugees and supporters are registered. The diocese of Vienna, however, rejects this criticism. They state that this list was created in December together with the people affected and has not been changed since.
