Case about corpse without legs goes to trial

The case of a 61-year-old Serbian man, who is suspected of having killed, dismembered and buried a 58-year-old with the same origins is going to court today (Wed). The suspect has not confessed the crime.

A walker discovered the corpse in a plastic bag in the Wiener Wald near Gablitz (district Vienna-area) last year. The autopsy revealed that the man died from receiving heavy blows on his head.

The man was missing since 30 March 2012. He was supposed to meet the suspect in his flat in Vienna on that day. The suspect claimed, however, that the 58-year-old did not appear in his flat.

The investigators said that the suspect’s statement is in contradictory to later results of investigations. They secured documents in his flat and found traces in the cellar, which could possibly be the crime scene.

The accused has not confessed the crime.

Victim and offender probably knew each other for some time. Both had dealt with cars in part-time jobs. The investigators do not exclude the possibility that the car of the victim was part of the crime.

The accused man presumably took the black Toyota with a Viennese license plate to Serbia, as it could not be found. The legs of the corpse have not been discovered either.
