A fire in a cellar under a fur shop in Vienna Landstrasse left two people injured yesterday evening (Thurs). A 67-year-old and 16-year-old resident suffered from smoke poisoning and were taken to hospital.
The fire broke out in a house on Landstrasser Hauptstrasse. Six other residents were treated by paramedics at the scene. They were released afterwards to be treated at home, according to the Wiener Rettung.
The fire brigade extinguished the flames. The cause of the fire remains unclear.
The fire engines were also called to a fire in Steigenteschgasse in the district of Donaustadt. A fire had broken out on the first floor of an apartment block.
Apparently, a mobile phone shop was affected, but, in this case, the Wiener Berufsrettung (Vienna emergency services) stated that nobody was injured.
