42-year-old teenager asks for naked photos

A 42-year-old man from Vienna had posed as a 16-year-old on the social-network Facebook to get hold of photos of naked girls and to meet them.

A mother from Linz (Upper-Austria) reported the issue.

Police say the 42-year-old confessed but denies he had met anyone. There is no evidence that leads to believe that he has met any of the online contacts, but photos were received sporadically.

In August, a mother from Linz reported to the police she had found several suspicious messages from men on her 13-year-old daughter's Facebook-profile who suggested sexual meeting and asked for naked pictures.

The primary suspect after some investigation was the 42-year-old Viennese man whose house was searched in December. Police said he admitted to have acted with nine profiles on the social network site.

The man pretended to be a 16-year-old and looked to speak to 12 to 15-year-old girls. He declared his love to them and asked for them to get naked photos or a date. Police are aware of eight victims in Upper-Austria but the investigations are not yet completed.

The man is accused of sexual grooming arranging sexual contact with under-aged children.

Police advise to only ever accept friend request from people who are truly close friends. One should never be persuaded to pass on naked pictures or to agree to a meeting.

Generally speaking, care should be taken in deciding which information to communicate on social network sites.
