Secret arsenal discovered in Vienna

By Rachael Williams

An extensive weapon collection has been discovered at the home of a 31-year-old man in the wealthy district of Währing in north-west Vienna.

Police were alerted after the discovery was made by a team of paramedics who had been called to the house of a mentally ill man on Tuesday morning (18 December).

The police were accompanied by the Vienna Special Task Force and officers uncovered a double-barrelled shotgun, two gas pistols, several air rifles, knuckle-dusters, knives and 90 rounds of ammunition. In addition, officers also found 15 marijuana plants which had already been harvested and hung to dry and several grams of marijuana resin.

The unemployed man did not resist arrest and was issued with a temporary gun ban. He is now receiving medical treatment.
