Viennas 25 tram makes a comeback

The tramline umber 25 run by Wiener Linien in the Austrian capital is making a comeback today.

Six years after the number 25 was stopped it is to be relaunched and will run between Franz-Jonas-Platz in Floridsdorf and Oberdorfstraße in the Donaustadt.

Tram line 26 is also being extended.

SPÖ Finance Officer Renate Brauner offcially opened the line today and there are trial routes on offer for people to try out the new route whcich makes stops at U1 Kagran, Erzherzog-Karl-Straße for the SBahn an U2 Donauspital.

The route will be fully launched tomorrow (Saturday) and covers a 9.5 km route.

Some of the track is new and work has been going on since April and cost the City of Vienna around 12 million Euro.
