Discussions are ongoing about making a park permit zone in the Vienna Districts of Hietzing and Währing from 2013 as a result of a knock on effect from surrounding districts.
The proposals would be similar to those parking zones introduced in Penzing, Ottakring and Hernals in October this year.
ÖVP district representatives in Hietzing and Währing want to ask the local residents what they think to the plans.
The residents will be able to take part in a survey run by the district officials and will be able to have their say on whether the parking permit system should be widely introduced in their areas.
This is thought to be taking place in January 2013.
If voted for the parking permits would be introduced throughout large parts of the districts. Only introducing the permits in certain areas would not solve the parking problem.
This will be the first time residents of Hietzing will be asked. Residents of Währing have already been asked for their opinion once back in March.
In march two thirds of the residents of Währing were against introducing the permits.
It is however thought that opinions have now changed after the permits were introduced in neighbouring districts putting added pressure on parking spaces in Währing.
Hietzing also has a problem with parking as many commuters use Hietzing to park and then commute into the city.
There are also talks about a possible introduction of the parking permit in Vienna's 19th District of Döbling, but there are not yet any concrete plans.
If Währing introduces the parking permit it is thought Döbling may have to introduce it as a result of the knock on effect.
