Parliament has lifted the immunity from Tyrolean People's Party (ÖVP) MP Karin Hakl at the request of prosecutors investigating allegations of fraud and money laundering.
The Vienna public prosecutors said that the allegations were in connection with the general election and an alleged involvement in the "Telekom Affäir".
Telekom Austria (TA) allegedly paid 20,000 Euro in 2008 for the election campaign of the conservative People's party in the Innsbruck area where she was the main candidate.
Prosecutors needed to have her immunity lifted in order to investigate further and made a request which has now been approved by the immunity subcommittee of Parliament.
Hakl who has not yet been charged with anything has maintained at all times that she did nothing wrong.
