Burglars framed by security conscious home owner

Two professional criminals have been framed after a man living in the Austrian capital Vienna installed a hidden camera in his front door which filmed the pair as they professionally picked the lock and broke into his flat.

Police said that the camera had been designed to look like the small viewing glass that allows people inside to see who is at the door and the the pair were  completely oblivious as they broke into the flat in the Brigittenau region of the city.

Police have now released pictures of the two who carried out the raid on 20 August stealing jewellery and cash.

In addition the video gave a valuable insight into the way the pair operated and detectives investigating the case said it was clear not only that they were professional – but that they were likely responsible for several other similar break-ins in the region.

Anyone with information about the pair is asked to call police on 01/31310/62800 or 01/31310/62640.
