30,000 people expected to attend the Neustift festival in Vienna this weekend
30,000 people are expected to attend the Neustift festival in Vienna over this coming weekend.
The traditional festival held in Vienna’s 19th District of Döbling takes place for the 258th time and is hosted by the Neustift am Wald wine makers.
The traditional festival first began in 1754 when local wine producer’s invited people for the first time for a local festival upon the wish of Empress Maria Theresia.
The festival is officially opened on Friday at 18.00 and over the weekend lasting until Monday night.
It is a chance for everyone to get out their Lederhosen and Dirndls and enjoy the atmosphere with traditional music and fair.
There will be plenty of food and drink to be had as well as entertainment for children and adults alike. Many traditional Heuriger will be opening their doors over the weekend.
