New project of commuting in e-vehicles
Traffic is one of the main causes of the production of the harmful greenhouse gas. Lower Austria is now trying to encounter the problem with a new commuter project in the South of the state.
The goal is to show how "electromobilty" can work in small-scale projects and then to implement it gradually in projects on a larger scale.
49 communities between Vienna and Wiener Neustadt will be involved in the five-million-Euros project and 126,000 employees are concerned.
Economical Regional Secretary Petra Bohuslav (ÖVP) said yesterday (Mon) that the plan is to link public transport with electric vehicles: "Around 100 electric cars, electric busses and 80 fully automated electric bicycles will be established in the model region."
Additionally, the state is planning 240 new charging stations for the e-vehicles. Environmental Regional Secretary Stephan Pernkopf (ÖVP) said that new photovoltaic systems would provide the vehicles with ecological power.
