An increase in Austria’s unemployment has been forcing more people to contact the Public Employment Service Austria (AMS).
Spokesperson Sebastian Paulick said that the AMS Vienna is struggling as they are faced with aggression and violence in the branch offices.
The situation leaves both AMS employees and people who are looking for jobs in great distress.
The problem is that there are not only more unemployed people: The duties of AMS employees have also grown immensely. At the same time they don’t have enough time to provide optimum support for the job-seekers.
The violence in AMS Vienna offices ranges from mere insults to scuffles. That is why security guards at every office branch have been installed.
Spokesperson Paulick said that there is certainly the need to hire new employees in order to improve the situation.
