AUA flight stranded on runway after wheel fell off

Flights into the Austrian capital Vienna were delayed this week after a wheel fell off of an Austrian Airlines (AUA) plane when it came into land.

The runway which is one of those located at the airport on the outskirts of Vienna at Schwechat was closed for several hours after the Bombardier-aircraft from Florence with 76 passengers and 4 crew on board was forced to make an emergency stop when one of the 2 wheels on the right side of the plane fell off.

Nobody was injured in the incident although takeoff and landing flights were disrupted.

An Austrian airline spokesman said that the machine was being examined to find out why the wheel had fallen off and added that despite the accident no stage was anybody in danger.
