The famous Viennese wafer maker Manner is expanding its operation in Vienna with the creation of 60 new jobs.
The company's factory in the Hernals district is set to be expanded so that the famous leaning wafers can once again be produced in the city.
The result will mean by 2015 the capacity has been expanded in Vienna enough so that the entire production is produced in the city.
The move will mean that much of the production in Upper Austria will now gradually be shifted back to Vienna. At the moment the company Josef Manner & Comp. AG is currently producing products across three different locations in Austria. As well as Vienna and Perg in Upper Austria they also being produced in Wolkersdorf in lower Austria.
Manner spokeswoman Karin Steinhart said they wanted to make the Vienna factory a centre for wafer excellence. In total the company is investing €30 million in the project.
The company also owns the Casali, Ildefonso and Napoli product names.
The company came into operation in Vienna at Hernals in 1890 and the new centre is also set to include a new logistic centre to improve the delivery process.
Building work is set to start on 9 August.
Manner had a turnover of 158.5 Mio. Euro last year – with over half made abroad. They estimate that 45% of the sales abroad would Austrians.

Army officer sentenced over getting recruits to lay flooring at his house
The state court of Vienna sentenced a second lieutenant of the Austrian Army to nine months in jail due to misuse of authority. He had three recruits lay the flooring in his own house.
Child injured on zebra crossing
